Yeah we (my brothers) still barter for services with each other and with our friends.

Barter rules! Best way to save the taxes as well!
Bartered for lots over the years, built a deck for my mechanic he did my transmission. I painted her apartment she made dinner and then love!
Still very good friends btw. The barter system works !

When i was a kid..probably around 12..I took a old bike of mine and turned it into a pretty nice BMX bike..Which I traded for two other bikes. I fixed those up and traded them for a broken go kart. I fixed the go kart, ran the hell out of it, and traded it for a mini bike. I traded the mini bike, two skate boards and a kick ass BMX for a broken YZ125 dirt bike. Fixed it, and hell on wheels was born.

I was always trading something when I was young.

I still barter somewhat these days, I'll fix stuff in peoples houses at times for something I need. Usually, especially with neighbors, I just fix it for them because I can.

I love hockey!!! I am friends with the Hull family. My dad played for the Detroit Sons, which is the original Jr. Wings back in the 50's. I still have all my hockey memorabilia and it is, in fact, a huge collection now.

As of recently I had some friends help me out doing some work and I paid them by feeding them. I am a pretty darned good cook and they love my dinners so it was an easy trade for me.

Hello Joy
Yes used to do that with baseball cards and marbles many years ago. I still have a lot of baseball cards from the 50's and early 60's. Yes some of then went into the wheel spokes of my bike to lol!

I miss the bartering system as no one here really uses it much and we should go back to it as your right it could save us so much money not to mention we all get the things we need in a simplistic kind of way..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Oh, I used to love the sound of cards in bicycle spokes. We always used old playing cards...when a couple of the cards were lost and the deck wasn't useful, mom would let us have it for our bikes.

It's not really bartering, but I do tend to get called about an elderly friend's PC whenever he has problems with it. I'm the first point of contact for those kind of people who know that "Oh, he's good with computers".

So as I wont accept money for my time, I get paid in Coke or a box of chocolates or something else that's been sitting in the cupboard for ages that they don't want so think they can offload onto me.

When I had my shop I'd barter my labor for equipment, parts, sometimes whole motorcycles.

It begs me to wonder what we could have bartered over another drink or two when we met

I use it all the time with Friends to get work done to my house I could do but it would take way longer, and bnot look great, to do the same for them.

I haven't ever bartered sex for chores and don't think I would...

Yes it works well this system of exchange, figurines stamped in Album, carts of roller, bicycle, very cool!

You are so right about trading sports cards.....and clipping one to the spokes with a cloths pin.
I usually get my services volunteered for by the Mrs....I get guilted into doing things for others free of charge!

Earliest barter I did was a neighbor kid who had a book I wanted, and I had surplus baseball cards HE wanted. I think he got 4 cards for the book, and since they were duplicates, I lost nothing. The book, an anthology of Sci-Fi stories edited by HL Gold (paperback) I still have 58 years later ! I came out well in that barter I think.

I've traded a few records in my day. Not so much these days though as I tend to hold on to what I've got now.

Never really been a trader...although I did get a compressor in exchange for mowing a large lawn a few times. I used balloons instead of cards in my bicycle spokes. Made a loud motor sound. Used the long balloon and don't put to much air into it.
